I called my dad, who works for Ross Laboratories, and he says that Pedialyte does not come in a powdered form, but you do not really have to throw it away after 48 hours. They have to put that on the container due to FDA regulations and such. As long as you are putting it in another container when you give it to him, the bottle is good for over a week.
Dad also suggested you look into the Pedialyte freezer pops, and you can use the bottles of Pedialyte to make your own popsicles if A will do popsicles.
