glucose test, round two
Dec. 30th, 2005 04:40 pmSo I had to have a three-hour glucose test today. That one sucked even more than the first one. They had to draw blood before I drank that crap, then once every hour for three hours afterward. The lady had a hard time finding my veins, and that made it hurt a little more than it probably should have. I got to choose my flavor this time, so I chose the lemon-lime one. It wasn't nearly as foul as the fruit punch stuff, but I got really tired of it by the end.
The worst part was the fainting. About twenty minutes after I'd finished drinking the stuff, I started to feel really tired, so I picked up my book to occupy my mind. That didnt' help for long, at least not when things went dark and I got really warm. So I spent a few minutes trying to focus on breathing just to calm myself down and that was when Dee started trying to ask me questions about a form I'd handed her. She never did bother asking me what was wrong, and I could barely lift my head enough to tell her.
That happened two or three times, and then they drew the last vial of blood and I finally got to get a drink of water. That helped a lot.
Life next year could be verrry interesting.
