May. 31st, 2005 12:57 pmSo this weekend, I decided I wanted to plant my green beans. I have now 53 days till harvest.
Anyway, I wanted them planted on the east side of the house, so Lance started turning up the soil on that side. Found many earthworms, yay. :) All was going well until he hit a brick. Then another. And more bricks.
Little back story here: there used to be a door on that side of the house that led to a split-level sort of entrance, wherein you could either take the coal for the furnace down to the basement, or up into the main house. They decided, evidently, to put in a small set of stairs there that went at least FIVE BRICKS DEEP. Dad and Mom came up to help get the bricks out of there, but in the end, decided it just wasn't worth it to get ALL of them.
So after a bunch of digging and pulling out many, many bricks, Lance gave up and we planted the beans anyway.
And yesterday was interesting. There's a church about a block away from us that plays hymns every day at nine, noon and five. My parents knew about this, and my father at least gave it little more thought until yesterday when we were all outside and "America the Beautiful" started playing. So Dad is entertained by the bells, evidently.
I'm almost done with the last skein of yarn I have for my blanket, woohoo! Then I shall make coasters and placemats. THEN I shall buy more yarn and continue with the blankie.
Ate my carrots, my granola bar, and my sandwich. Need more food. Bah, need to stick to my diet for a change.
Relay for Life is this weekend. I shall post pictures, provided the rain stays away.
Must get back to work for now. Not that there's a lot I can do at the moment. Not that I can just get up and go home, either...
